You are completely correct that it should, in the 21st century, be possible to look up a player on a database and discern suspensions, international clearance and anything else a club needs to know when making a signing. It is really not a difficult thing for a database architect to put together.
That we are still relying on players knowing or remembering their suspensions is mind boggling. AFC Portchester just suffered this very thing and they don’t have a leg to stand on.
I note the FA’s agreement with Cognizant has just been extended. Given they can’t stop the FA website falling over on FA Cup First Qualifying Round draw say I have zero faith in them managing to implement anything that resembles anything useful.

It was the AFC Portchester removal via that pod which gave me the idea for the article but also something we see at least once a season too.
There is very little faith in a lot of areas within the FA to deliver constant change to keep up with the times.
