Rain dominated the days before the weekend. Not the first time in the last three months, the weather dictated badly where I could go for Saturday football.

I remarked a day or two before on Twitter/X(@trevk37) that anyone who managed to get a game on in Sussex on that day with a grass pitch would need a medal, step forward Lewes who were the only side in the county playing not on a 3G surface.

With so much of the wet stuff in the last few months I’ve already gone beyond the 3G limits without pushing the boundaries too far. Mindful of being in between two midweek trips to The Hive, I wasn’t keen on venturing too far as it was, the options limited and the take was once again heading to watch title chasing Steyning Town, a dry afternoon was forecast.
