Hosts progress in 50th year of the FA Vase
This season is the 50th year of the FA Vase competition, the chance for County League players to get to Wembley and play at the iconic stadium. Over 600 teams start off and of course only two can make it to the final, a double header with the FA Trophy in May on what is called Non League Finals Day.
Not only is it difficult to get there it’s also hard to return to the final and defend the trophy, Newport Pagnell did achieve it last year and were the first side to do so since 2011-12, however Ascot Utd triumphed this time..
There will be new winners this year however as Ascot were promoted to Step 4 and now compete in the FA Trophy, that’s the beauty of this competition, it really is anyone’s cup!
