Last week was another double bout of midweek action, the business end of the season brings the games thick and fast, but before you know it the floodlights are off and Saturdays filled with sunshine, the beach and BBQ’s.
Tuesday night was a first trip to Horndean, some 40 minutes only up the road and one I’d tried to get to one two or three occasions this year, either Barnet or the weather thwarting the plans.
This was to be the final round of Wessex League Premier Division games with as many as four sides in the mix for promotion to Step 4, AFC Porchester having been in pole position for most of the season until the last few games sending Horndean top winning their games in hand.
A fair sized crowd was expected and as I took up position I noted a fair few Wessex based club badges filing in to Five Heads Park along with some other familiar faces including good friend and photographer Martin Denyer whose pics you see above and within this blog (@MartinDenyer on Twitter).
