After Saturday’s Step 1 encounter in the National League it was down to Step 5 in midweek as I headed back to Kent to check on one of the Southern Counties East Premier Division promotion contenders.
The wonderfully named Gay Dawn Farm was my destination, Corinthian hosting Rusthall at a ground I’ve seen plenty of football at over the years. The latter themselves were at the right end of the table last season but have found points more tricky to come by this time around.
The Hoops were relegated last season after two years at Isthmian League level and with the introduction of the play-off’s finally for Step 5 they will expect to be in the shake up come the end of the season.
