Time for an FA Trophy rethink?

Incentives needed quickly before it becomes just another cup competition

Is the FA Trophy becoming outdated?

The FA Trophy, the poor relation of the FA competitions. While the FA Cup has it’s romance still for non-league clubs and the Vase has a serious feel to it for all the clubs entering the middling one needs some serious attention.

When Buildbase’s sponsorship of the Trophy and Vase came to an end a couple of years ago, the FA had a chance to go get a sponsor of similar ilk or better. You were well aware of the building firm’s involvement but since Isuzu took over it’s easily forgotten they’re even around.

The same in terms of sponsor’s notice can be extended to the Vase as well, you really wouldn’t know either competition carries a sponsor such is there anonymity. This isn’t the only problem with the competition so what else is there to do to increase visibility and make clubs take it more seriously and for it to be nothing more than a loss making exercise.
