Rebels sign off from pre-season in style

The new season might be underway for some teams and leagues already and it does feel a little bizarre going to watch a pre-season friendly with action already begun.

There’s a good reason for heading to watch Worthing take on Wycombe Wanderers development squad on Tuesday evening, well a few actually. The first being a look at Adam Hinshelwood’s team ahead of their opening National League South fixture at the weekend, a few new signings for the Rebels over the summer ready for their historic first season at this level.

Secondly, the return of former Rebel Jasper Pattenden in opposition colours after a summer move for him to the EFL League One club, well deserved having being a consistent performer and following in the footsteps of many before him in stepping up.

The final reason was the chance to finally meet up with Wycombe’s goalkeeping coach Lee Harrison, commonly known to most as a top and well liked Barnet goalkeeper, ‘Harry’ kindly gave up a Saturday afternoon during the first lockdown for a Zoom video chat and as per all of those I did he was a top guest.
