Midweek action this week took me up to Kent and back to a ground I’d not been to for nearly 40 years. I was certainly no older than ten the last time I was at VCD’s Crayford ground, and back then the club were in the Kent County League Premier Division.
Since then they’ve risen up as high as the Isthmian League South East Division but relegation last year returned them to the Southern Counties East League but no doubt wanting to make a swift return amidst a very competitive set of teams.
Their visitors on Tuesday night were Glebe, current league leaders and unbeaten to boot, a stern test for the home side coming up in the quest for points.
