Moving On Has It's Perks

Wednesday 8th December 2021. Not a date many will have in their memory banks at all, but one that sticks for me for a very good reason. I have some many good friends within the non-league game and some who have become a part of that friendship circle.

Back in 2020 I popped along to Hayes Lane not long before we all got locked down for a first time meeting. My afternoon was spent with the then Bromley manager Neil Smith, a guy I’d seen on a BT Sport documentary which followed a few non-league clubs and with the help of Ben Strevens, I’d managed to get a sit down interview.

The reason I wanted him was his infectious nature across that documentary, a great orator and all round friendly guy. The afternoon was hilarious, the amount of stories he had from his time in the pro game to those in non-league as well.
