Regulation in football is almost a dirty word. Encouraged by the elite levels to bend it any way you can, especially since the coming of the Premier League in 1992, the game suffers from those wanting the full pie and to hell with the rest of the game almost.

A league run by it’s own club’s CEO’s will always find ways to sidestep the rule book, in effect not breaking them but finding any loophole they can to exploit for their own club’s gain, but only if you’re one of the ‘sneaky six’.

It’s why they’re so opposed to the incoming independent regulator because they fear for a stripping of some of their powers. The FA relinquished control of the game back then washing their hands of the new inception and the price has been paid since, but what does this mean for us followers of the non-league game and how much will the regulator affect what we see in front of our eyes?
