How does it all fit in?
Another 7 days goes by and a further week into the season we go. Quite a mixed week in my opinion, which comes from an interest in so many teams and clubs. Whilst on holiday Barnet go from winless to 3 in a row before I step foot back in the country leading to me asking a couple of Bees fans if I'm allowed to return to England not wanting to disrupt the winning run!
Luckily for me, they extended it to 4 in a row on Tuesday evening and are now looking more and more like a side that will be challenging at the top end of the table, but the run must continue. The same can't be said for Martin Allen and Chesterfield. 6 defeats in a row after 3 straight wins and already the knives are out with Allen conceding the title is beyond them, welcome to non league Chesterfield, be prepared for a long stay!!! Oh, and take care ;)
On Sunday I watched Spurs put in an extremely lacklustre performance after playing so well the week before dispatching Manchester Utd with ease at Old Trafford, a place that hasn't been a happy hunting ground for them. A very 'Spursy' week for Tottenham going into the international break, but with that season only 4 games old plenty of time to digest this one, move on and win more games.
My Wick side progressed to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Vase. A 2-1 win added some more prize money to the club's coffers and we face Hackney Wick on 15th September at home for a place in the 1st Round Proper. Over the years neither FA Cup nor Vase progression has been in Wick's favour, so we are certainly due a run for a change, fingers crossed it continues!
This week also saw me returning to write for Worthing FC's website with match previews and reactions with first team manager Adam Hinshelwood returning ready for the weekend's FA Cup showdown with Faversham Town, a club that was once a large part of my late father's life when he lived in East Kent.
The NFL returns this weekend with the first game having played on Thursday night and my Dallas Cowboys team live on Sunday evening for their first outing just to add something different to the football mix!
The first Premier League piece for O-posts.com was published this week and getting paid for this was something I was aiming for when I set out to do this around a year ago, it's moved faster than I expected but I'm not going to complain at being in this position.
I've been very fortunate to land where I am, running a football club, given a chance by George Dowell at Worthing FC to write for a Bostik League Premier Division club, encouraged by Omar Almasri writing for o-posts.com, this blog of course and who knows where it can lead to!
The next blog will feature another update on Wick FC, it seems it's popular judging by the visitor numbers so it would be silly not to carry it on and let you carry on seeing what and where myself and my committee members are taking this club, the journey of a season!
Whilst you're here take a look at the other work I do:
www.wickfootballclub.co.uk - the club in focus and our main point of contact.
www.worthingfc.com - first one is now up, match previews and reactions to come from Adam Hinshelwood throughout the season.
www.o-posts.com - here you will find my 'Non-League Notes' weekly column and also now opinions on the Premier League.
