How often do you read a book? Probably like me not as often as you should. I tend to read most on holiday but the last few years I’ve found a few recommended from other people that I’ve picked up and found very interesting.

They range from all parts of the game, recently the sad story of Robert Enke, a goalkeeper at the top level of his game who suffered badly from depression and took his own life in 2009. Then there was ‘When the Circus Leaves Town: What Happens When Football Leaves Home’ by David Proudlove, a story of football grounds replaced up and down the country including my very own Barnet FC, Underhill vs The Hive.

More recently it’s been non-league and ‘The Bromley Boys’ written by the late Dave Roberts, ironically featuring a chap called Derek Dobson who was once my accountant when living in Kent, it’s a small world this non-league family! As a part of the PNLP podcast we were offered a book, the history of Erith & Belvedere compiled by Brian Spurrell.
