Saturday was FA Trophy day, a fixture I had put in the calendar when the draws were made. I must admit felt a little guilty not heading to The Hive to watch Dean Brennan’s high flying Bees, so far having done half the games they’ve played is not bad for me.
Instead I was staying local, Broadbridge Heath 45 minutes away from home. Winners of the Southern Combination in Sussex last year they’ve stepped up to the Isthmian League South East and was debut time in the FA Trophy, a good time to see how they’ve faired in the early stages of the season.
Up against them were Cray Valley PM, established at this level and one expecting the minimum of play-off’s this year and also one of the clubs I write a programme column for too. Led by Steve McKimm and Barry Moore, two lads I know very well no doubt the title is their only aim.
