New 3G surface at Tonbridge Angels

Tuesday night should have been a trip along the road to Eastleigh as Barnet were the visitors, one of my closest away trips of the season. But with the weather still playing havoc and that game moved to Wednesday evening it was a chance to go elsewhere and Tonbridge vs Dover was the destination instead.

Longmead Stadium or the Halcyon Wealth Stadium as it’s currently known has a lot of memories for me. Indeed as an 18 year old on work experience at the Kent Messenger Group Newspapers the first time ever I appeared in print was reporting on Tonbridge Angels vs Bury Town in the Southern League, a midweek game that saw a 4-3 win for the Angels.

Years earlier I had played on the old grass surface for Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys and scored in a 5-0 cup semi-final win but missed the final having broken my nose playing Sunday football, memories galore!
