New Tunbridge Wells boss Luke Carpenter joined me for a chat a couple of weeks ago and in part one below the Wells gaffer talks about his move from the club to Chatham Town and his subsequent return to the royal town, part two out later this week.

TK: The last time I saw you, still coaching at Tunbridge Wells with Rich (Styles) and Dan (Morrin) and then did you break away or did the move to Chatham Town come straight away?

LC: That’s right, I broke away from Tunbridge Wells and reviewed a few options and then decided to go with Kevin (Hake) and Carl (Laraman) at Chatham.

TK: Am I right in saying it’s closer to home for you?

LC: No completely the opposite in fact, I live 2 minutes away from the Culverden so it took up a few evenings!

TK: Was it just a change of scenery you felt you needed at the time?

LC: Yeah, I felt I needed to push myself a bit more and I got that in abundance at Chatham thankfully.
